Accessibility statement

A credential is only worth something if everyone can earn it and show it. This page sets out what we are aiming at, what we have actually verified, and what we know is still missing.

What we target

This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. That is the standard referenced by the Australian Human Rights Commission's guidance on the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, and it is the bar we hold ourselves to for the app as well as the website.

How conformant we actually are

Partially conformant, self-assessed. We are being precise about that wording rather than claiming more than we can back up.

Every page has been checked against the Level AA success criteria by inspection, and every foreground and background colour pair in the palette has been measured rather than eyeballed. What has not yet happened is an independent audit, or sustained testing with real screen readers and real users of assistive technology. Until that has been done, "fully conformant" would be a claim we cannot support.

What is in place

  • Every page is fully operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator that clears 3:1 contrast against each background it appears on.
  • A "Skip to content" link is the first thing in the tab order on every page.
  • All body text meets or exceeds 4.5:1 contrast; large text and interface borders meet 3:1.
  • Content reflows to a single column down to 320px wide without horizontal scrolling, and survives 400% zoom.
  • Animation is suppressed for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion, including the indefinite spinner on the verification page.
  • Form fields have persistent visible labels and the right autocomplete hints.
  • Decorative and placeholder imagery is hidden from assistive technology rather than read out as though it were content.

Known limitations

These are the gaps we are aware of. We would rather list them than have you discover them.

  • Verification needs JavaScript. The page at /v/ cannot work without it, because a card is only trustworthy on a live check against the register. A message explains this if scripts are unavailable.
  • Imagery is placeholder. The app screenshots and photography on the site are stand-ins. When the real images land they will need proper alternative text, and until then they are hidden from screen readers.
  • No independent audit yet. See above.
  • Typefaces load from Google Fonts. If that request is blocked or slow, the site falls back to your system font. Layout holds, but the look changes.

Write to hello@greencardgolf.app. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. If you use assistive technology, naming it helps us reproduce the problem.

We aim to reply within five business days, and to tell you honestly whether a fix is quick, slow, or not planned.
